The City of Port Phillip recently installed a range of Fit-for-Parks outdoor gym equipment in St Kilda. The new community exercise space was officially launched on April 1st with a number of members of Council and the community joining to celebrate the occasion.
The equipment is designed to cater to a broad range of people from 12 year old’s right up to the elderly. Each item can be used in a range of ways to assist users of all levels of strength and fitness. One of our accredited personal trainer’s was at the event to provide tips on use of the equipment. If you weren’t there you can visit our website to see instructional videos.
We’ve created some workout plans which cater for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels of fitness. Clear instructions are provided on signage integrated into the equipment which makes it very easy to get started.
The new outdoor gym is less than 200 metres from the beach, located in “Peanut Farm Reserve” on Blessington Street near the intersection of Chaucer street. Free parking is available on Chaucer street, so there’s no excuse not to take advantage of this great resource.
This is an exciting project for the City of Port Phillip. We expect that its popularity will lead to the installation of further the outdoor gyms throughout the region, spreading greater benefit to the whole community.
