Less than 8% of 13 to 17 year olds meet Australia’s physical activity guidelines. While playground equipment doesn’t appeal to high school students innovative outdoor fitness equipment does. Well designed outdoor fitness equipment promotes unstructured use during class breaks and can be used to bolster structured physical education classes. a_space has led the way in the development of school fitness equipment for schools across Australia helping to address sedentary behavioural trends.
The City of Karratha wanted to develop a fitness trail near the local sports ground. However, to encourage the community to use the gym and utilise the shade, they decided to provide more of an outdoor exercise park.
It was important to Council to provide a full body workout and encourage the community to be active.
