Ivanhoe Grammar School wanted a spectacular new playground for their lower primary level students that would make a statement. An important consideration was the protection of a large heritage gum tree.
An arborist was engaged to detail the tree and root protection zones to provide parameters for our design development, especially ground penetrations. To meet the brief our design team collaborated to develop a new play space with a tall and imposing play tower combined with a network of monkey bars and traverse events. The design included low level, interactive and sensory items connecting to an adjacent nature play area.
The 7m tall tower along has definitely met the brief of providing something spectacular that makes a statement . Feedback from school staff and students has been extremely positive and the new play space is highly regarded by everyone in the school community.
