Mannering Park was one of many local level playspaces being upgraded to a district level playground. This meant that council needed to offer facilities that allowed visitors to play for an extended time frame and cater for a wide age range and ability level. Council included a few notes in their tender request that talked to the surrounding sporting facilities, and added that fitness equipment is not required but would be a nice addition.
To meet the brief of catering for a wide age range and ability level, a_space included our ever popular flying fox, climbing structure, basket swing and junior play unit. a_space also chose to include fitness equipment in the design to cater for the increasing number of retirees heading to the area from Sydney.
Overall, the design of this park ticked all the boxes for Council and provided a full experience for the whole family and a much needed central community hub to promote social interaction. While Australian Manufacturing was not, and is often not, a consideration, in this tender – our lead times were another reason for success.
